When it comes to social media and increasing engagement, nobody does it better then big brands such as Mashable, TechCrunch, and TheNextWeb. Mashable is quite popular for implementing setting new design trends, and it has helped them get more Twitter followers and Facebook likes, over the years.
Now if you want to implement some of their strategies (or even functionality), you can easily do that using plugins available in the WordPress repository.
I recently come across one such plugin called WP MashSocial Widget, created by Ahmad Awais. It allows you to add Mashable inspired social media box in widgetized areas of your theme such as Sidebar and Footer.
WP Mash Social Widget is super easy to use and requires less then five minutes to configure. It also comes with a responsive design, meaning it will look good on small screen devices, as well.

Step 1: Navigate to Plugins > Add New > search for “WP MashSocial Wigdet” or if you could also install it manually using by downloading it directly from WordPress repository.
Step 2: Activate the plugin and configure it from widgets area. Drag and drop the “WP MashSocial Wigdet” in your sidebar or footer.
After adding the widget, enter in all the relevant details / info and configure the look of the box. You can set the colors and choose between two different layouts.
Once you’ve added your links in the widget, it will start appearing on your site. It will visible either on your sidebar or footer, depending on where you have added the widget.
