Theme Appearance and Features

As mentioned, this is a multipurpose theme that provides a ton of useful features and customization options. This theme is designed to work with all the major WordPress plugins such as WooCommerce, WPML, Visual Composer, and Gravity Forms.

Codeus has a unique layout aimed for someone who wants to create a number of different sites with different styles, and still keeping the same functionality.

It comes with two powerful slider WordPress plugins – LayerSlider and NivoSlider priced at $18 and $29, respectively. Both of these plugins are bundled as part of the theme. You can easily disable the slider option, if you don’t like adding slider on your site. I know a lot of bloggers who don’t like using sliders on their site, so this feature might come in handy.

The theme is fully compatible with WooCommerce WordPress plugin. It provides full integration including product overviews, product pages, shopping cart, checkout, etc. Each element of the shopping cart has been designed to match the unique style of the Codeus theme.

You will also be happy to know that fancy elements look good on small screen devices too. Codeus is fully responsive, it automatically adapts to different screen sizes, no matter which mobile or desktop device your website visitors use.

Codeus Responsive Design

Like all the premium WordPress themes, it also comes with a large number of shortcodes for inserting page elements such as pricing tablets, portfolios, tabs, galleries, dragrams & skills, etc on your site. But Codeus has taken it a step further with their shortcode generator. This generator allows you to create custom shortcodes which you can insert into your posts and pages.

This theme is fully customizable, you can choose from 2 pre designed skins, unlimited choice colors, custom backgrounds, and a large library of over 300 Google fonts. Other customization options include: custom patterns, boxed & wide layout, and over 200 vector icons. Apart from that, you can easily customize the individual page and post elements via options panel.

To make it more customizable, developers have included all the Photoshop PSD files in the theme. This means if you have a good knowledge of Photoshop, HTML, CSS, and PHP, than you can easily modify the design to match your needs. It also comes with a premium visual composer plugin which lets you modify the design elements of your site from the front-end.

Codues features and shortcodes

You also get an option to create different types of portfolio sections, galleries, custom sidebars, and other essential pages. For custom sidebars, you can use them on any page you wish by simple drag-n-dropping desired widgets on it in page settings

Codeus is compatible with number of WordPress plugins, which I have already mentioned in the post, but here’s a complete list of plugins:

Other features include:

  • Homepage constructor
  • Extended custom widgets
  • Flexible page settings
  • Optimized for search engine
  • Free updates and support

You also get extensive documentation on how to get started with Codeus, which is stored on your computer, so you can easily access it without any internet connection.

Installation and Setup

Once you have made the purchase, you will be redirected to the downloads page, where you can download the theme files. Download the zip file and install the theme via your WordPress admin area (Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload). Once you click the activate button, it will add a number of new navigation menus to your admin area.

Next, install the LayerSlider plugin, which is essential to unlock all the features of the theme. The premium slider plugin comes included with the package, so you just to have to click the install button. Codeus theme also comes with another slider plugin called NivoSlider, so if you don’t like the premium LayerSlider plugin, you can switch to NivoSlider.

Codeus multipurpose theme options panel

After successfully installing the slider plugin, go to options page to configure the general settings of the theme. The theme is packed with a ton of options and the custom options panel is well designed and looks somewhat similar to the rest of the admin panel of WordPress.

The first option in the General settings tab lets you change the color of your site – light or dark. Other options include:

  • Theme Layout: choose between boxed and wide layout.
  • Identity: upload favicon and logo.
  • Advanced: add custom css and google analytics code.

Rest of the options panel lets you customize other aspects of your site such as fonts, colors, backgrounds, footer, etc. When it comes to Google web fonts integration, you have to upload them via “Fonts” page.

Homepage Constructor

This theme comes with a drag and drop homepage constructor that allows you to customize the homepage via different content blocks. You can also enable / disable the lazy load to increase the speed of your website.

Depending on which premium Slider plugin you have installed, it will add a new settings page where you can add effects and styles to the slider.

Conclusion

Codeus is a great looking WordPress theme ideal for creating any type of corporate or business website. The theme has a number of great features such as shortcodes, custom post types for portfolio, gallery, etc that are coded directly into theme, rather than via a separate plugin. This means, that you will have to manually transfer the data, should you choose to update your site with a new look in the future. Personally, I think the custom post types and shortcodes needs to be offered via plugin.

However, if the visual elements and highly customizable nature of this theme appeal to you, you can rest assured that the backend of the theme is easy to use and features all of the customization options you would expect from a premium offering of this type.

Nice review and good call on the portability (ie that cpts and shortcodes should be in a plugin)..
